Weheat unveils design and technical details of new heat pump Sparrow

Standing monoblock officially introduced at trade fair VSK

Utrecht/Duizel, Feb. 6, 2024 - On the opening day of VSK, the most important Dutch trade fair for the installation industry at the Jaarbeurs, Weheat introduced its new heat pump - Sparrow. In doing so, the Dutch manufacturer announced the design and all technical specifications of this upright propane monoblock. With the Sparrow, Weheat is building on the success of its innovative recumbent heat pump, Blackbird.

Weheat's Blackbird was positively received last year, both by the (trade) press and by installers and end users. "They particularly praised the stylish appearance, smart design, and quiet and highly efficient operation of this horizontal monoblock heat pump," states Toon van Engelen, strategic consultant at Weheat. "With the upright Sparrow, we now make these benefits available to homes that do not have a suitable installation location for a horizontal outdoor unit."

The Sparrow heat pump is suitable for use in both new construction and existing buildings, and can be used in either all-electric or hybrid applications. Because it is offered in three color schemes - deep dark green, elegant bronze and modern gray - a stylish solution is available for every situation.

Installation and ease of use

As with the Blackbird, the compact housing (100x90x45 cm) of the upright Sparrow is manufactured from the durable plastic EPP, which also provides a stylish appearance. After injection molding of this material, space is milled out to house the piping and various components. The heat pump is thereby divided into two compartments that can be easily slid in and out of each other, making it very maintenance-friendly. A major advantage of the construction method is that the insulating effect of EPP ensures that this heat pump, like its horizontal brother, also has an extremely quiet operation.

Smart and efficient

The new heat pump, due to its high efficiency, has the highest attainable energy label A+++, which also translates to an additional ISDE subsidy. Like Blackbird, Sparrow includes a 4G connection, avoiding downtime or connection problems around wifi. Both the end user and the installer have access to an intuitive portal where the performance of the heat pump can be monitored remotely and settings can be adjusted very easily.

100% Dutch

Toon van Engelen: "With the Sparrow, we make all the advantages that Blackbird offers accessible to an even wider audience. The two heat pumps are complementary; where Blackbird is particularly suitable for placement on a flat roof or at the bottom of a garden, the upright Sparrow can be placed against or on the facade of the house. This allows us to cover much of the housing stock. We are proud that as a 100% Dutch company we can make a nice contribution in this way to the energy transition and making the built environment more sustainable."

Weheat can be found at booth number 12.F060 during trade fair VSK in Jaarbeurs Utrecht from February 6 to 9.
