After the successful horizontal model, there will also be a standing version next year

Heat pump breakthrough: Weheat produces thousandth Blackbird

Duizel, Nov. 28, 2023 - Quieter. Compact. Efficient. And above all, sustainable. Weheat's hybrid heat pumps are "all-electric ready" and thus ready for a future without fossil fuels. Thanks to the highest attainable energy label, the Blackbird qualifies for a high ISDE subsidy for homeowners. Production uses fully recyclable materials and technologies that minimize ecological impact. These include the use of the natural refrigerant propane. Using algorithms, the Blackbird provides optimal and economical heating for each home. It also uses fully recyclable materials, including an EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) casing: at the end of its life cycle, this part of the pump is disassembled. Moreover, the Blackbird is a local product; it was conceived, designed and produced in the Netherlands. In short: in every step of the production process, sustainability is leading for WeHeat.

State of the art polder product

The Blackbird is a typical innovation from the Brabant Brainport Region. The success of the smart pump, the thousandth of which will soon be produced, lies not only in sustainability. This innovation has a unique horizontal design that is ideal for placement on flat roofs. Ideal for residents, because you hardly see it. Ideal for installers, because the heat pump is lightweight and easy to connect. Following the success of this first model, Weheat will also launch a new, upright variant in early 2024. Of course, this heat pump is also distinguished by the same high-tech advantages as the current Blackbird: 4G control, ease of installation, high energy efficiency (SCOP 4.7) and energy label A+++. The Blackbird is not ugly and noisy, but beautiful and quieter with a sound pressure of only 49 decibels at 1 meter distance. A sustainable solution for everyone.

New model

The existing model has an output of 8kW and allows temperatures up to 70 degrees. The heat pump is easy to commission, monitor and service remotely. The online environment (portal and app) gives both installer and resident insight into performance, with access to 35 data sets updated every 5 seconds. This allows any problems to be noticed and resolved remotely, without the need for someone to be physically present. The Blackbird also offers automatic configuration to the exact heat requirements of a home and mechanical protection against frost damage, in case the electricity fails. During the VSK trade fair in February 2024, Weheat will introduce an extension to its range: a new, floor-standing model with an output of 6kW and also smart.

Raising the bar

Toon van Engelen of Weheat, about the company and the sector: "Technological developments in the field of heat pumps have been rapid in recent years and we have taken advantage of this. We followed everything closely and, with the help of our team of experts, combined our own insights with that knowledge. The result is an innovative product that is genuinely different from other heat pumps. A new standard in terms of design, installation and operation. We are proud of the success of the Blackbird and are greatly looking forward to launching the new model. It will be an upright version of the well-known Blackbird, but of course with a number of special new features. We will keep the details secret for a while, so look forward to seeing you in February at VSK, the trade show for installation professionals."
