Rotterdam - On June 20 and 21, 2022, a Danish trade delegation of 30 leading Danish companies in green energy and smart healthcare will visit the Netherlands. Together with Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, Danish Minister of Climate and Energy Dan Jørgensen and Danish Minister of Health Magnus Heunicke. The visit aims to establish and strengthen partnerships, collaborations and solutions in the areas of sustainability and smart healthcare. Entrepreneurs, policy makers and experts from both countries will discuss the challenges of innovation, sustainability and healthcare. One of the innovative highlights is the visit to the leading European innovation hub: Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) in Rotterdam. Here, the crown prince and ministers will engage in discussions with three Dutch innovative startups in the fields of innovation, cleantech and sustainability.

Denmark and the Netherlands have maintained strong commercial and friendly ties for more than 500 years. In the past, cooperation was mainly in the field of agriculture and Dutch farmers brought innovative methods to Denmark for then. Now the countries cooperate in the areas of sustainability, green energy, environment and health care.

'Innovation transcends national borders and best way to solve contemporary problems is to bring together the most innovative global companies. CIC has a leading position in the world of innovation, sustainability and smart technology with 8 global offices and nearly 3,000 innovative companies, startups and scaleups. The coming together of the official, innovative and commercial leaders of Denmark and the Netherlands is a continuation of the good relationship between the countries. CIC is home to the most innovative companies worldwide that together are shaping the future of the world, we are therefore wholeheartedly facilitating the visit of the Danish trade delegation to contribute to a cleaner, smarter and healthier future.' Melissa Ablett-Jordaan, COO CIC international.

CIC startup talk

CIC is facilitating a startup talk and pairing three Dutch companies with the trade delegation. These companies present are Corekees, Somnox and TransitionHERO. Corekees makes it possible to invest in trees; dividends are paid from the harvest. With this, the scale up combats deforestation. Somnox makes sleep naturally accessible through soft robotics with breathing guidance. In addition, TransitionHERO provides a pressure cooker for designing and scaling green innovations with their platform. In addition to the three companies, COO of CIC worldwide, Melissa Ablett-Jordaan will also tell how she set up CIC Rotterdam - as the first European location - some 6 years ago and has strengthened the innovative development of the companies within CIC.

Leading European innovation hub

In early 2016, the originally American concern successfully set up the first European Innovation Community. Rotterdam became the entrepreneurial hub of Europe. The thinking behind this community is that technological innovation can be stimulated and strengthened through cross-pollinations. More than €600 million has been raised - under the roof of CIC Rotterdam - which has strengthened both Rotterdam's and Europe's innovation power.
